So, is it raining *because* I put on Radiohead? That would make a lot more sense than the weird weather we've been having lately. It was so windy at the dam yesterday I got something lodged in my eye and its' still there. And I don't know about you other psychic types but is the next earthquake any minute now or what? I'm even dreaming about it now. I wish it wasn't true but that's the reality we live in here. |

| The Neck |

It's worse today.
I woke up around 1am in so much pain I could barely talk. I carefully walked out to the living room (because each step would jar my neck and make it hurt even worse) and MrX held an ice pack on my neck for me while I sobbed and tried to catch my breath. Holy shit, I have never felt that kind of pain before. Everything from the base of my skull to the middle of my back felt like it was on fire. The ice helped though, and I went back to sleep using a big wedge pillow that keeps me semi-upright and leaving hte neckbrace on.
Today is worse, though. My hands are getting weak and my hands/arms shake a lot when I put effort into using them. The pain keeps growing and growing and my percocet isn't touching it.
The doctor, in addition to prescribing the Lortabs yesterday that I can't even take (which she would have known if she had checked my medical records first), also prescribed a steroid shot. Which I also can't take, and she would also have known that if she had checked my medical record. I left a message this morning requesting her to please call me back personally, as passing information back and forth via the nurse was just slowing down the process of me getting some kind of HELP. The nurse was pissy, impatient and defensive about it, and god did I really NOT need that sort of attitude in the condition I was in this morning. A kind voice would have meant so much. A little understanding that, while "this afternoon" may just be a few short hours away to her, to someone in this kind of pain it is ETERNITY. She didn't seem to get that, and I was hurting too much to be articulate. I was actually sobbing by the time I hung up because I didn't feel like I could make her understand how desperate I felt.
I went home eventually. I tried working and just wrapping ice around my neck and taking maximum painkillers but I was shaking all over and kept bursting into tears so I just got MrX to bring me home.
I am starting to feel very afraid of this pain. |

Recently, I've had the honor of being one of four wings designers who were asked to submit wings to Faerie Magazine for a photo shoot for their summer issue! I had hoped to have three pieces to submit, but it ended up being only two. The third piece...well, it fought with me tooth and nail...and it won. (Insert image of me sitting in my studio covered in shredded hose, glitter, and tied-up with wire Penelope Pitstop-style.)

Bentos 150-156. You know, I should clean my stove more often....
Another evening, more Skyping. This time it was my turn to ring him while he didn't have his headset plugged in. HA! Tonight I introduced Tami and Tim over IRC....between the two of them I was getting highly embarrassed. NEVER introduce two people who know you really well to each other. They're bound to start trading stories about you.
I'm wondering if it's possible to have an allergy to shea butter? My legs are itchy, splotchy and sort of have a rash on them. I've worn pants the past few days and the rain forced me to stay indoors, so I haven't been outside...and the only "new" thing I've used has been a new blade on my intuition razor with shea butter. I've never used shea butter before, but I just kind of assumed it was like aloe. It's really going to be annoying if this is an allergic reaction, as I still have three new blades of it, and those things aren't cheap! I took a shower this evening and put anti-itch cream all over my legs but they're still itching.
I'm tired. I'm going to head to bed. Tomorrow I have some packages to get out. And I have to figure out shipping to Australia for the one girl. |

So Much For That Plan
Ok, so I didn't quite get around to posting today like I had planned and indicated I would last night. So here's the quick-and-dirty version of random thoughts and subjects I've been meaning to discuss. (In no order whatsoever.)
- Only found the replacement brush assembly in one vacuum repair store but they wanted $30 for a $17.95 part. No thanks. Ordered it last week online. Finally arrived today. (Why it took FedEx a week to get it to Florida from Texas I'll never know.) I installed it and vacuumed this afternoon. Success!
- Thank goodness David Cook won American Idol. He totally deserved it. Archy has the personality of a wet piece of paper. On a good day. I was totally expecting the annoying kid to win so I was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.
- Monday night as I was getting ready for bed I started to get the twinge of a migraine arriving. But I thought, "oh, I'll just go to sleep instead of taking something." Bad idea. I tossed and turned all night, and kept waking up. (Not fully enough to get up and take something, just enough to be in pain.) Tuesday morning, I woke up with a full-blown migraine around 9am, so I took some Excedrin. Tried to lay back down but then my stomach got into the mix. A couple hours of tummy issues plus now feeling queasy from all that caffeine on an empty stomach, I managed to sleep for another hour and change before getting up and running an obscene amount of errands. (We're talking like five hours of errand running and like eight stores/stops or something.)
- I got to see the brown color of the Canon PowerShot SD1100 in person at Best Buy. I think I like it. It's sorta root beer like in color. I've got a $35 gift card sitting around for them, plus a $5 off and a 12% off one item coupon. Combined, it's cheaper than I can get it on the internet. So I might be buying that tomorrow. Yay birthday present!
- Felt bad because I had a person email me once in April about four pairs of earrings. Wanted to send a money order after May 1st. Replied with the info but never heard back. Assumed they changed their mind. (It happens. I get drive-by inquires that never turn into sales pretty commonly.) Flash forward to Monday when I finally get the stuff from my PO box for the first time all month. (Because it's a half hour drive away by my mom's.) Inside? A money order from the person. Jeez. I emailed to tell her I received it, apologized for the delay and got the order out today but still never heard from her again. Weird. So many people are all "ZOMG! Where's my stuff?!?" like a day after sending payment and she emailed once and that was it. Felt bad, but how was I supposed to know she followed through...? (Still, oops.)
- Also speaking of Monday, I went up to Mom's to have my family birthday celebration. My mom, Nanny and sister came over and we all had a nice lunch and cake. Mom gave me the clothes and pair of shoes I picked out back in March and sis and Nanny gave me cash. (Whoo hoo! I get to buy more stuff for myself!) My sister's looking great. It's amazing how much her hair's grown in a month since I last saw her. It's not just fuzz, it's actual hair now. It looks like an actual hairstyle. (A short one, mind, but actual hair.) And her eyebrows and eyelashes are totally back too. She's doing great and it's so cool to see her with actual hair again. (Though she's grumpy that it's too short to show off in public yet. *chuckles* Mom and I agreed it was looking great.) Oh and it's so soft. Totally new hair that's never been mistreated or over processed, you know? :) Anyway, for those of you who've inquired, she's doing great. Happy to be done with all the treatments and eager to get back into normal life again.
Ok, I think that's enough. I want to take a shower tonight so I can color my hair tomorrow. (You need to give it a little time between shampooing last and coloring to protect your scalp.) It's only a semi-permanent color (No ammonia/28 shampoo things) and it's a color called "Cinnaberry." It's reddish. I thought it might be fun to brighten it up a bit since it's been like two or more years since I've colored it. Anyway, if I want to do it, I need to shower now, so I'll close here. Besides, I think I babbled enough.

Yay!
Tomorrow I get to go see the Kids in the Hall! I'm so excited!
Tonight though of course is art!
"Phoenix Tattoo" is her name - dedicated to all of my fans out there who kept asking me - "When are you going to paint a Phoenix?" - here you go! The phoenix is a mythological bird of flames - also a very powerful symbolic totem animal. I do love the phoenix, and enjoyed painting him! In my painting I have shown a lovely girl clutching (perhaps riding?) a phoenix - he is her protector, and a symbol for rising through her hardships, better than before! She also has a tribal style tattoo of a phoenix on one arm, very cool. The painting measures 12"x16" - original acrylics on sheet of canvas. This original painting is up on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve for a 7-Day auction ending the evening of Wednesday, May 28th at 5:31PM Central Time. A while back, I purchased that gorgeous peacock headpiece that ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) aranel13 made to wear with a similarly themed costume I was planning. It isn't completely finished yet, but it's in a wearable enough condition that I wanted to share some photos. :)

There are a few details left to add and the skirt to finish, but the biggest missing portion is obviously the wings! Any ideas would be very welcome. :) |

| MRI Results |

Well, I heard from the doctor just now. The MRI shows both spinal cord compression *and* nerve compression in my neck, particularly on the left side, which makes sense considering my new symptoms on the left side. She is sending me to a neurosurgeon. She also wanted me to take stronger painkillers, but I'm allergic to Lortabs. I can only take Darvocet, and I'm already taking that, and it's hardly doing any good at all. Whatever. I just want to get this dealt with before it causes permanent nerve damage.
I'm working today. I am wearing my neckbrace, which helps a lot in terms of keeping the spasms from twisting my head around and such. Just going slow and easy and getting things done a little at a time.
Anyway. So, it looks like I'll be needing another surgery really soon. Consdering how I feel right now, bring it the hell ON. Meantime I feel very relieved that they found a problem. I am always terrified of being told it's all in my head. |

Good morning!! I'm still here! I admit, I haven't looked a my LJ Friend List since the beginning of April, and it has really helped free up some time I desperately needed. Believe me, it's not that I don't want to peek from time to time, but I just need to learn to use LJ responsibly!! So until I get back into the swing of things, I would appreciate it if people could just e-mail me (gossamerfaery@hotmail.com) or leave me a comment in my journal if they need/want me to see something. It may be a bit before I have the chance to get back to LJ. Please be patient with me! I do need to update a little more though!
I am writing a substantial post about show season, but in the meantime, I just wanted to say I LOVE Skull-A-Day!!! The person posts a new skull image he creates EVERY DAY!!! He also takes submissions and has contests from time to time of other people's skull-inspired creations! Yesterday he made a "Skull Roll" out of sushi, and it was awesome! He sees an image in everything -- even dog hair! Oh, and Victoria, ~owllightstudios, if you're out there, Monty's skull-shaped pattern would be a perfect submission!!!!!!!!!!! I think I am going to dig up a few images of my own to submit!

I need to get back to a commission. It is a girl with her kitty! I get asked just about every show, "Do you really like cats or something?", because of all the cat and skelly cat images I paint. The answer to that is 1) Yes, I do love cats (and every other animal on the planet), 2) they are very popular and get requested frequently, and 3) I get commissioned to do them all the time. That is why I have a lot of images of cats and their undead counterparts:) But never fear, I'm easing into dogs soon! I have lots of little guys to paint from pictures friends and fans have sent me:) YAY!
That's about it for now! I thought I should start posting when the mood strikes me! I hope everyone in LJ Land is doing well!!

Yesterday was a miserable day around here. Not only rain, but pouring down rain and chill. At one point I was in my bedroom wrapped in several blankets with my lamp pointed directly at me to give me warmth and then this morning? I woke up feeling horrible. Feels like there's a sweatsock in my mouth. Blergh. I really think there's got to be a draft somewhere in this house that's causing this. Because in an hour or so I'll probably feel fine. It's just that right now I want to say "sod working" and go nap.
Of course, it's sunnier outside today, but if the temperature inside is any indication, it's still chilly. I should go check. and I can't decide if I want to go make eggs (For a late breakfast) or soup (for an early lunch!), since the only thing I bothered to make when I got up was tea. hmmm.
Also, today mom had to go get her car inspected. Apparently she was overdue for the inspection and got pulled over the other day and given 10 days to go get it inspected in. The officer who pulled her over was understanding. her registration doesn't expire until the end of June, so we assumed inspection in June...of course, the fact that neither one of us actually looked at the sticker in the window to check is sort of funny. But cross your fingers for no high repair bills. Since she took it to the dealership she bought it from, the inspection part is free! |
